Gannett Building

In late 2023, our team supported a transformative renovation of the historic Gannett Building—a 1927 former newspaper print facility—into modern, functional apartments. Led by Hanlon Architects and in partnership with Taylor - The Builders, GP Flooring Solutions worked with Mohawk Industries, Milliken, and Roppe to help implement a flooring solution that met the project's performance and design goals while preserving the building’s industrial character.

The original building, once a bustling hub of print activity, presented a variety of subfloor conditions and elevation changes. Mohawk Industries concrete-look LVT was an ideal choice for the majority of apartment spaces due to its durability and its ability to closely resemble the existing concrete slabs—maintaining continuity with the building’s original aesthetic while delivering modern performance.

In areas where acoustics were a priority, Milliken Textiles carpet tile was installed to reduce noise transmission and provide a comfortable, residential feel.

At key corridor elevation changes, Roppe stair treads and accessories were used to enhance safety and visual cohesion. Their slip-resistant surfaces and durable construction ensure lasting performance in high-traffic areas while complementing the building’s historic elements.

Additional contributions from Daltile, Shaw Industries, and Matter Surfaces further enriched the project’s material palette, offering a range of textures, finishes, and performance features that supported the overall design vision.

We’re proud to have contributed to this adaptive reuse project and to have collaborated with a strong team of architects, contractors, and manufacturers.
